Kidsafe Explanation
Wise County Youth Soccer Association, along with VYSA and USYSA and countless other youth soccer organizations have adopted the Kidsafe program to help children play soccer in an environment where known risks are identified and removed. Wise County Youth Soccer Association takes the background of all volunteers into account when accepting volunteer assistance.
All coaches, referees and volunteers of any nature are required to submit a Kidsafe application that screens for persons having been arrested or convicted of exploitation of a child, physical or sexual abuse of a child, domestic violence, illegal drug use and a number of other serious crimes. The screening involves a background check that is at no cost to the volunteer. Persons with adjudications, charges or convictions for these screenable offenses are not permitted to volunteer in any form with Wise Count Youth Soccer Association or any related activities. Applications are submitted at the beginning of each season for each volunteer. If applications are not received in the prescribe time limit, any volunteer will be immediately removed from their volunteer position. Persons may be returned to their volunteer position once the Kidsafe application has been submitted. And while this precaution does not alleviate the need for diligence in keeping our children safe, we can at least keep children safer from obvious risks and undue threats to there well being.
